This is the story about 17 year old' s journey out of High School and into the Navy.
Vietnam was just heating up and he wanted to go. He expected to go.
First he had to make it through the nightmare of boot camp. I am that boy and this is my story.
The story winds through boot camp and on to ADJ Jet Mechanics school. I ended up not in Vietnam but at Pa x River Naval Air Station. Angry and disillusioned I kept getting myself in troubling situations until one day I heard the Blue Angels were coming to our base.
The day of the airshow I watched in awe as they went through their maneuvers. Impressed beyond words I remember thinking if I can' t go to war then I want to be part of this.
The planes landed and the crowds dwindled. There was a fence guarded by The Shore Patrol standing between me and where I wanted to go.. The pilots were in a huddle debriefing. I sensed a small window of opportunity that was slowly closing. I took off running towards that fence. It was like my body had a mind of its own. Leaping the fence I hit the ground running. The Shore Patrol in hot pursuit. I ran full speed right into that debriefing and bounced off of the Commander of the Blue Angels. The Shore Patrol had me on my first bounce. They were dragging me away. I saluted and yelled “I want to be a Blue Angel sir!” Everything stopped, It was the calm before the storm. In that instant, I thought I was doomed! Two months later I was a Blue Angel.

Little Henry's misadventures are told in an light, tongue-in-cheek story teller way. A style recognizable in enthusiastic young men who've since become mature, self-reflecting individuals looking back on life experiences they were somehow lucky to survive and remember with fondness. I'm looking forward to the next story in the series!
This book was a breath of fresh air in such ...it gave me a lot to think about as well as appreciate opportunity for "Change". I thought Mr. Ford did a great! job in telling his story, while at the same time holding the interest of the reader. THE MISADVENTURES OF LITTLE HENRY is funny, sad and thought provoking. Would like to know what else "little Henry"is up to these days. LOL
I heard Little Henry telling his stories in front of a scuba diving group and I was very pleased with his storytelling abilities. His writing in this book is just as funny and easy to understand; however, you never know what's next. Mr. Ford writes in a easy to read style and this easy storytelling drew me right into the crazy life of this man. I enjoyed the journey with Little Henry and I will be going on another trip with him when I purchase his next book.
I read this book in like 30 minutes, laughing most of the way through . Rich has a style that draws the reader into the story and keeps you there. I thoroughly enjoyed Little Henry's exploits and look forward to reading the continuing saga...
Good read, interesting
It's not complicated, just a fun read! Richard Ford knows how to tell a good story. Each time you figure Little Henry is about to strike out he hits a big one! From the boot camp bus to the gay bar adventure, how Little Henry got to be in the Blue Angels is a head scratcher. Yet, I can't wait to find out about his misadventure with the Navy's elite flyers. Most enjoyable.
I enjoyed the foibles of a young wayward youth who attempted to put his life in order and make something of a misspent life. I commend his ability to pick himself up by the proverbial bootstraps.
I look forward to the next chapters(books) in his meanderings.
however this all plays out, I am very sure that the next parts will afford me the pleasure of this journey that may make the basis if a movie.

I am a history buff. this is a pleasant divergence with a great potential.
I would give it zero if that were an option. Grammar errors run rampant. The “antics†are rather dull. Oh, the horror of having to scrub a white uniform when already exhausted. Hard to believe the recruits didn’t die.
